Grenadian singer-songwriter V’ghn is on the edge of creating history. Known to many as the voice behind the hit Trouble in the Morning, and with songwriting credits for Caribbean heavyweights like Jamaica’s Konshens and Christopher Martin, and Trinidad’s Nadia Batson, V’ghn has become one of the region’s most dynamic talents.
He now holds the title of Grenada’s first appointed Caribbean ambassador to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a role that displays his growing influence beyond the stage.
This Spicemas season, however, the young artist is making noise for another reason. With a string of new singles and the anticipation building for his upcoming EP Point of View, set for release on August 29, V’ghn is showing the world just how versatile a Grenadian artist can be.
Currently in the heart of Spicemas 2025, V’ghn has been dropping tracks that capture both the spirit of the season and his cross-cultural range. Jab Decisions is a pulsing tribute to Grenada’s iconic Jab Jab tradition, while Girls Just Wanna Have Fun featuring Trinidadian hitmaker Travis World blends infectious soca energy with smooth crossover appeal. Then there’s A List, a UK-Caribbean link-up with British star Not3s, that effortlessly merges island rhythms with London cool.
These songs are just a taste of what’s coming on Point of View, a nine-track project divided into three acts: My Story, The Grenadian Bad Boy, and Jab Decisions. Each section reveals a different layer of V’ghn, starting from introspective storytelling to culture-driven anthems.
“This EP is really about shifting the narrative,” V’ghn says. “I’ve always felt like an outsider: misunderstood, criticised, underestimated. Through all of that though, I kept believing in myself and my vision. Point of View is me telling my story in my own way, showing people that there’s always more than one side. It’s raw, it’s layered, and it’s 100% me.”
The EP comes on the heels of a busy festival season, with performances lined up across the Caribbean, US, Canada, and the UK. Stops include Toronto Jerk Festival, Spicemas Carnival in Grenada, Raleigh Carnival in North Carolina, and Notting Hill Carnival in London.
For V’ghn, the collaborations on the EP are personal. His track with Not3s was born from a conversation with producer Jaime, who suggested bringing the UK artist on board. “I’ve always listened to Not3s,” V’ghn explains. “He’s one of the first UK artists I ever listened to. When Jaime said his name, I said, ‘That’s my artist.’ We sent him the track, and he loved it.”
The Travis World link-up was even simpler. “We’re in similar circles,” V’ghn says. “It’s easy, just link up and make music.”
When asked how he’d describe Point of View to someone who’s never heard it, V’ghn offers a poetic answer: “Take a look from where I’m standing to understand where I am.”
As both an artist and a cultural ambassador, he’s proving that the island’s voices can be as versatile, innovative, and globally resonant as any in the Caribbean. With Point of View, due out just as the energy of Spicemas spills into the rest of the carnival calendar, V’ghn is making sure the world is listening.
