The American Womenswear Designer of the Year award is a prestigious accolade presented by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) to recognize outstanding talent and creativity in women’s fashion design. It celebrates designers who have demonstrated excellence in their collections, innovation in style, and a significant impact on the industry. Winning this award is considered a significant achievement and a mark of distinction for designers, reflecting their ability to influence trends and contribute to the evolving landscape of fashion.

Scott won the coveted award ahead of other nominees and industry veterans Marc Jacobs, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez for Proenza Schouler, Thom Browne and Tory Burch.

The cocktail, dinner and awards ceremony at the American Museum of Natural History was hosted by Academy Award-nominated actress and songwriter Cynthia Erivo.

Diotima is known for its commitment to craftsmanship and innovative design, often blending contemporary aesthetics with cultural influences. Diotima emphasizes sustainability and ethical practices, creating collections that celebrate femininity and diversity. The label has gained recognition for its unique silhouettes and textiles, appealing to a modern audience while highlighting Rachel Scott’s distinct vision as a designer.

Rachel Scott has garnered a strong following for her authentic and inclusive vision of Caribbean style, characterized by tailored pieces, knit dresses, and sportswear that feature artisanal, handcrafted details.
