Decorated Jamaican sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has pulled the curtains on the current season, with the aim of beginning preparations for the next two championship years.
Fraser-Pryce, 31, who only recently returned to the sport following the birth of her first child, struggled to rediscover her best for this season.
The diminutive sprinter did manage to crack 11 seconds, with a 10.98 season’s best at the London Anniversary Games in July.
In eight races, however, Fraser-Pryce has managed just three wins two of which came on home soil. The sprinter did not take part in any 200m meter races this season. Fraser-Pryce was expected to face the current top four in the women’s 200m standings – USA’s Jenna Prandini, Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson, Marie-Josee Ta Lou of the Ivory Coast and Shaunae Miller-Uibo of The Bahamas.
In her most recent outing at the NACAC Championship in Toronto, Canada the sprinter finished in fifth position. The Jamaican has cancelled meets in Birmingham and Chorzow.
