The British Virgin Islands (BVI) is positioning itself as a leading hub for crypto and digital finance, even as international pressures challenge its status as a competitive offshore financial centre.

Earlier this month, BVI Finance participated in TOKEN2049 Singapore, one of Asia’s premier Web3 and blockchain events, showcasing the territory’s offerings in digital innovation, fintech regulation, and global financial services. Through panel discussions and networking sessions with influential fintech leaders, the BVI delegation emphasized that the jurisdiction remains open for business, combining strong regulation with business-friendly structures and expertise in cross-border digital asset solutions.

According to BVI Finance, participation in TOKEN2049 highlighted the territory’s ability to provide fintech firms with clarity, stability, and international market access. The move aligns with the findings of its global report, Destination Digital, which showed that 94 percent of fintech leaders consider cross-border expansion vital, with many seeking jurisdictions like the BVI for their balanced regulatory approach.

The report also pointed to the appeal of credible legal frameworks, such as the Virtual Assets Service Providers Act, which allow for innovation while ensuring responsible oversight.

BVI Finance said that events like TOKEN2049 strengthen the territory’s reputation as a forward-thinking, stable jurisdiction committed to world-class regulation while embracing digital transformation. The Singapore appearance is part of a broader global outreach campaign aimed at modernising the BVI’s financial services and protecting its standing amid international reforms on tax transparency and beneficial ownership.

The participation reinforces the BVI’s ongoing goal to remain a trusted destination for fintech companies seeking a combination of innovation, regulatory clarity, and access to global markets.
