On Tuesday, July 4th, from 4 to 10 p.m., Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava will join Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners Vice Chairman, District 10 Commissioner Anthony Rodriguez, and thousands of community residents to launch Park and Recreation Month at Tropical Park.
Residents are invited to bring family and friends, a blanket, and lawn chairs, and settle in for the Independence Day celebration.
Patrons are advised to arrive early, as on-site parking will be limited.
“I am excited to kick off Park and Recreation Month with our 4th of July celebration for the community to enjoy at Tropical Park, and all of the exciting activities and events taking place throughout the county this month,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “I encourage all of our residents and visitors to experience all that our beautiful county parks have to offer in July and all year long.”
This free event will feature musical performances by Latin Grammy-nominated artiste Jorge Luis Chacin, and salsa and merengue by tropical urban music duo, Dani D y Franky, as well as demonstrations, a Fun Zone with interactive activities, and other interactive lawn games.
Food trucks selling hamburgers, hot dogs, and other Independence Day favorites will be on site throughout the event. The celebration will conclude with a firework display at 8:45 p.m.
“Tropical Park is a favored park in our District 10 community, filled with outstanding recreational, cultural, and natural amenities,” said Vice Chairman Anthony Rodriguez. “I am proud to host the annual 4th of July celebration and fireworks show at this park – It is the highlight of the summer season! I invite all our District 10 families to dress in your patriotic gear and come by to take advantage of the free activities.”
July is National Park and Recreation Month, and Miami-Dade Parks is celebrating this year’s theme “Where Community Grows” by highlighting how Miami-Dade County is stronger, more vibrant, and more resilient through parks and recreation. The 4th of July celebration will encourage environmental conservation, exploration, and hands-on learning about how residents can better steward parks and natural areas.
“We are proud to join Miami-Dade residents in celebrating our nation’s freedom on the 4th of July at Tropical Park,” said Miami-Dade Parks Director Maria I. Nardi. “As we continue to celebrate National Parks Month in July, thank you to Miami-Dade County Parks’ employees for their commitment and dedication to the stewardship of parks, and for their year-round contributions to this community’s health, happiness and opportunities for prosperity through parks and open spaces.”
Miami-Dade County Parks’ 2023 event partners for the Independence Day Celebration at Tropical Park will include Univision, Bang Energy, Pure Water Factory, and Pepsico.
Community partner exhibitors will include Miami Dolphins, Adrienne Arsht-Rockefeller Foundation Resilience Center (Arsht-Rock) whose Community Resilience Pod contains vibrant interactive-educational displays of Parks’ Waterfront Recreation Access Plan (WRAP), Eco Transect and Zoo Miami conservation efforts; Soccer 5, Mundo Boxing, Canas Tennis, Westchester Optimist, Brizaga Consulting Group, Miami-Dade County Water & Sewer, Crandon Golf Academy, and Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida.
