Opposition Leader Mark Golding made the announcement on Monday.

With immediate effect, Graham resigned from his role as the opposition’s spokesperson for business, science, and technology.

In a letter, Graham stated that his resignation was motivated by the conviction that the public would be better served if he left politics.

He also resigned from his position in the Lluidas Vale Division.

The Opposition MP said the decision follows through on a promise he made to his mother that “if it should ever happen that I don’t think my purpose is to serve the people who have elected me, I would step away with the hope that they would be better served.”

He further said: “As to my people in the Lluidas Vale division, I am prepared to serve you in whatever way, capacity or opportunity that may arise, as I believe I should serve the people only to make their lives better,” he continued.

Hugh Graham has served as Councillor for the Lluidas Vale division since 2007.
