The government of Montserrat has amended the Public Health (COVID-19 Suppression) Order to reduce the quarantine requirement for vaccinated people traveling to the island from 14 to 10 days.
To benefit from the new provision, a traveler must provide the Medical Officer or Health Officer with proof that he/she is a fully vaccinated person, as well as a negative PCR COVID-19 test taken 72 hours before starting their journey.
Under the new protocols, anyone who claims they are vaccinated but cannot provide proof of vaccination will be treated as a person who is not fully vaccinated.
A person arriving in Montserrat is considered fully vaccinated 14 days after receipt of the second dose in a 2-dose COVID-19 vaccine or 14 days after receipt of one dose of a single-dose vaccine.
“A fully vaccinated person who goes directly to his/her home, place of occupancy, designated quarantine facility or place of isolation shall remain there until 10 days have passed, provided that he or she has taken a PCR COVID-19 test or an RNA COVID-19 between 8 and 10 days after entering Montserrat and is not infected with COVID-19,” the Government said.
“If the individual is expected to leave Montserrat before the 10 days have elapsed he or she will be allowed to leave.”
However, those quarantine and testing requirements do not apply to lawyers, judges or other officers of the court coming to Montserrat for court proceedings; airline or ship crew; persons granted permission by the Minister to enter Montserrat for the purpose of aiding with preparations for a disaster or after a disaster; and non-resident technicians provided they have been granted permission to enter Montserrat prior to travelling to the island.
Meantime, people who are not fully vaccinated will have to comply with the usual requirements and restrictions.
They are required to take a PCR COVID-19 test upon arrival and following relevant immigration and security checks, they must go directly into quarantine either at a designated facility or their home for 14 days.
Those persons are required to take a second PCR COVID-19 test or an RNA COVID-19 test between 12 and 14 days after entering the island.
Once that test is negative, and the 14 days have elapsed, the person is allowed to leave self-quarantine or the quarantine facility.
