Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival headliner, Tarrus Riley, paid a visit to his alma mater, Miramar High School, on Wednesday where he spoke to a group of about 100 students enrolled in the school’s Mentoring Tomorrow’s Leaders group.

Riley is one of the leading voices in contemporary reggae and has traveled the world performing his biggest hits, like the ever popular “She’s Royal.” He, however, remains committed to staying connected to his community. While at the high school, he’ll shared his story about his early beginnings as a student with a passion for music and the forethought and vision to pursue his dreams.

Students will also had the opportunity to ask him questions and take photos with the international star.

The Miramar community has a strong Caribbean population, and both the students and the community will cherish this special visit. City of Miramar’s Mayor Wayne Messam was also be present during the visit.

Born in the Bronx, NY and raised in Jamaica, Riley’s father, famous reggae star Jimmy Riley, moved the family to South Florida in the early ‘80’s. Tarrus Riley would eventually graduate from Miramar High School in 1998.
