Several Caribbean nations were again jolted by an earthquake on Monday.
An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1 rattled several Caribbean islands on Monday, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage. The occurrence of the earthquake was confirmed by the Trinidad-based Seismic Research Centre (SRC) of the St. Augustine campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI).
The SRC said that the quake, which occurred at 8.08 am (local time) was felt in the nations of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Lucia and Grenada.
The SRC also indicated that the quake was located at Latitude: 13.23N, Longitude: 61.30W and at a depth of 107 kilometres (km).
It was felt 11 km north west of Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, 95 km south west of Castries, St. Lucia and 140 km north east of the Grenadian capital, St. George’s.
Caribbean countries have in recent months been shaken by several earthquakes with SRC experts warning the region to be prepared for a major quake. There are no indications where such an earthquake could likely occur.
