The hurricanes, which have impacted several Caribbean countries in close succession, have left several dead and left untold damage and devastation across the region.

The more recent of the hurricanes, Maria, a category 5 storm, destroyed huge sections of Dominica, leaving 16 dead and several others reported missing.  Since then there have been several charity efforts organized across the Caribbean, including an offer of free land in Guyana for those affected and the waiving of the immigration restrictions in Trinidad and Tobago for Dominicans over the next six months.

The Trinidad and Tobago-based franchise, the Trinbago Knight Riders, capture the Caribbean Premier League title a few weeks ago.  The win was the second for the country in its history.

Among the names being earmarked for the event are West Indies and Jamaica star Chris Gayle, but several others are expected to take part in the encounter.  The match is tentatively scheduled for October 7 and will be held at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.
