Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) has been awarded two grants totaling $70,000 to support improvements in indoor air quality and expand recycling initiatives across its schools.

The funding is aimed at strengthening school operations by creating healthier classroom environments and improving sustainability practices districtwide.

“These grants reflect our commitment to creating healthier, more efficient learning environments across all our schools,” said Chief Operating Officer Luis Diaz. “By improving indoor air quality and expanding recycling infrastructure, we are making strategic investments that directly support student well-being and academic success.”

The district has been selected to participate in the Go Green Initiative’s Clean Indoor Air Initiative, a multi-year program providing approximately $45,000 in incentive-based funding. The initiative focuses on improving indoor air quality and building efficiency in schools and is supported by the Go Green Initiative with funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

In addition, M-DCPS received a $25,000 grant from the 2026 Florida Beverage Association Community Grant program. The funds will be used to expand recycling infrastructure across schools participating in the Green Schools Recognition Program during the 2026–2027 school year.

The district was selected from more than 140 applicants. The grant is supported through a partnership between the Florida Beverage Association and the American Beverage Foundation for a Healthy America, with both organizations contributing to the funding.

Officials said the combined awards reflect ongoing efforts to improve operational efficiency while promoting environmental responsibility across the school system.
