Vybz Kartel has been granted official clearance to enter Trinidad and Tobago for a one-week period, culminating in a headline performance at the One Caribbean Unity Music Festival on Saturday, May 31.
The clearance comes with several conditions for the dancehall star, including the posting of a security bond and strict limitations on his activities while in the country.
In a release issued Wednesday, Overtime Media cited sources close to the Jacho Entertainment-organized event, confirming that Kartel was granted a permit under Section 10 (1) of the Immigration Act 22/2025. The permit, outlined in a document labelled Form 17 under immigration legislation, allows Palmer to enter and remain in Trinidad and Tobago for seven days—from May 27 to a redacted end date—without the need for a work permit or visa, specifically for the purposes of performing at the music festival.
The permit makes it clear, however, that the privilege can be revoked should any conditions be breached. Among those stipulations is the requirement to post a security bond, although the amount has not been disclosed.
Additionally, the form outlines what activities Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, is and isn’t allowed to participate in. He is only permitted to engage in radio interviews during two windows on May 28: between 9 a.m. and noon, and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. He is barred from participating in crime awareness initiatives, panel discussions, community walkthroughs, meetings with officials, or any similar engagements.
The permit also contains a cautionary clause: “Artiste must not communicate any words or engage in any activity which may likely be construed as promoting a gang – contrary to the provisions of the Anti-Gang Act.” His set list must avoid songs considered offensive, including Good Like Jesus. Furthermore, all costs related to state-provided security and incidental expenses must be covered by the artist.
Jonathan Gomez, lead for the One Caribbean Unity Music Festival, welcomed the clearance, stating: “The Worl’ Boss has now been officially cleared to arrive and perform in Trinidad, so all roads lead to the Queen’s Park Savannah this Saturday night, where Vybz Kartel will deliver an electrifying performance, alongside some of the nation and the region’s top acts.”
Gomez added, “Tickets are still available at all advertised outlets and from our online providers. Kartel returns to the stage in Trinidad this Saturday for the first time in 15 years, so this historical night is not to be missed. See you all there!”
The highly anticipated event is expected to draw large crowds. Earlier this month, it was said that the Trinidad government was also considering a minimum age limit of 18 to enter the concert.
