Jamaican goalkeeper Andre Blake secures historic 100th MLS clean sheet

KINGSTON, Jamaica — In a moment destined for the Major League Soccer record books, Andre Blake, the stalwart of both Philadelphia Union and the Reggae Boyz, cemented his legacy this past weekend with his 100th career clean sheet—a monumental milestone that further solidifies his place among football’s elite shot-stoppers.

The 33-year-old Jamaican guardian of the goal turned in yet another masterclass on Saturday night, producing three crucial saves in the Union’s emphatic 3–0 victory over Atlanta United at Subaru Park. The shutout was not just another win—it was a defining chapter in a career built on brilliance, consistency, and steel-nerved excellence between the posts.

‘Saves by Dre’—A legacy etched in MLS history

Nicknamed ‘Saves by Dre’ and affectionately dubbed ‘Brick Wall Blake’ by adoring fans, Blake has become the very embodiment of reliability for the Union. Since being drafted first overall in 2014, he has spent nearly a decade redefining what greatness in goalkeeping looks like in Major League Soccer.

Blake’s influence stretches well beyond Saturday’s milestone. He boasts 731 career saves and has logged over 22,000 minutes of regular-season action. His honors include: 4-time MLS All-Star, 3-time MLS Goalkeeper of the Year,  Holder of virtually every Philadelphia Union goalkeeping record.

More than numbers: A pillar of the union and the Caribbean

While the stats paint a picture of elite performance, it’s Blake’s leadership, presence, and calm under pressure that make him a true game-changer. Whether it’s a reflex save in the dying seconds or commanding the backline with silent authority, Blake’s contributions are both tangible and immeasurable.

His journey from May Pen, Jamaica, to becoming one of the most respected names in North American football serves as an inspiration to young players across the Caribbean and beyond. As captain of the Reggae Boyz and a proud ambassador of Jamaican football, Blake’s influence reverberates far beyond Subaru Park.

The century is only the beginning

With his 100th clean sheet now etched into the MLS annals, questions turn not to whether Blake is among the greatest—but how much further he can rise. At 33, he continues to defy time and competition with the poise of a veteran and the hunger of a rising star.

Andre Blake’s latest milestone is more than a personal achievement—it’s a moment of celebration for Jamaica, the Philadelphia Union, and every young goalkeeper who dares to dream.

One hundred clean sheets. A thousand memories. And still counting.
