According to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, officers initially attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the 100 block of Southwest 27th Avenue, but the driver refused to stop.  The driver was later located at the Chevron station, where the shooting took place. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Surveillance video has captured the moments leading up to a police-involved shooting in Fort Lauderdale, showing an officer firing on the man. According to Police Chief Bill Schultz, the preliminary investigation indicates that the driver exited the vehicle holding what appeared to be a firearm.

Police confirmed that the suspect was shot by one of the officers seen in the surveillance video. He was transported to Broward Health Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

For several hours, officers blocked off a portion of West Davie Boulevard as part of the investigation, and the vehicle involved was eventually towed away. Authorities reported that no officers were injured in the shooting.

As per standard protocol, the officer involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave with pay while the incident is under investigation.
