The 16-member squad is set to face the formidable West Indies Women in a six-match series comprising three ODIs and three T20Is, all scheduled to unfold at Warner Park in Basseterre, St. Kitts.

A battle for ICC Women’s Championship points

The ODI series, commencing on January 19, holds monumental significance as both teams vie for crucial ICC Women’s Championship points. These matches represent a golden opportunity for Bangladesh, currently seventh in the standings with 19 points, to secure a coveted spot in the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup in India. However, their path to automatic qualification is fiercely contested, with West Indies sitting close behind in ninth place with 14 points.

As the competition tightens, each game becomes a do-or-die affair. With only three matches remaining for both sides in the qualification race, the stakes could not be higher.

A packed schedule in St. Kitts

The Bangladeshi contingent is scheduled to arrive in St. Kitts on January 14, providing ample time to acclimatize to Caribbean conditions. The ODI series will unfold on January 19, 21, and 24, with the three T20Is following on January 27, 29, and 31.

This historic tour is a testament to the rapid rise of women’s cricket in Bangladesh. Under the inspiring leadership of Niger Sultana, the team is expected to bring its signature blend of resilience and strategic brilliance to one of cricket’s most iconic regions.

The series not only represents a landmark moment for Bangladesh but also offers a thrilling showcase of emerging talent and international cricketing camaraderie.
