Teen killed in shooting outside Miami apartment building.

The Miami-Dade Police Department’s Homicide Bureau is investigating a shooting incident that left a teen boy dead.

According to investigators, on December 8th, 2024, at approximately 5:32pm officers from the City of South Miami Police Department were dispatched to reports of a shooting in the area of 5944 SW 64th Street. When officers arrived in the area, they discovered a 15-year-old male suffering from an apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue where he succumbed to his injuries.

The police department said they issued a BOLO for a vehicle of interest related to the shooting. When officers from the South Miami Police Department located a vehicle matching the description of the BOLO, they attempted a traffic stop at which time the subjects fled. The vehicle came to a stop in the area of South Dixie Highway/US1 & SW 104th St, then the two occupants fled on foot.

After a short foot pursuit, both subjects were taken into custody with the assistance of officers from the Miami-Dade Police Department. Preliminary investigation reveals that the subjects and victim are known to each other and were together at the incident location when a dispute occurred, and a firearm was produced resulting in shots being fired.
