Speaking at the organization’s 14th annual black-tie fundraising dinner held at the Hanover Manor in New Jersey, Jamaica’s Consul General in New York, Alsion Wilson, praised the group’s life-saving work since its founding in 2010.

“Your tireless efforts have elevated the standards of healthcare provision, positively impacting countless lives across our beloved island and in New Jersey,” Mrs. Wilson remarked during her address. She highlighted that HelpJaMM has facilitated approximately 20,000 life-saving surgeries over the years.

The organization’s impact this past year included the distribution of medications valued at thousands of dollars to patients in Jamaica. “These acts of service exemplify your commitment to the well-being of the Jamaican people,” the Consul General said.

Mrs. Wilson encouraged HelpJaMM members to maintain their dedication as they approach their 15th anniversary in January 2025. “HelpJaMM is a shining example of the diaspora’s dedication to giving back and uplifting our communities,” she said, urging members to continue their work of providing free, quality healthcare to those most in need.

HelpJaMM’s President, Dr. Robert Clarke, shared the successes of the organization’s recent medical mission to Jamaica, which included clinics in Seaford Town, Westmoreland; Smithsville, Clarendon; Greensvale and Christiana, Manchester; Hartease and Yallahs, St. Thomas; and Waltham Park in Kingston.

The team provided care to over 5,000 patients, distributed 3,000 pairs of eyeglasses, and conducted medical examinations for more than 500 students. Additionally, medications and supplies valued at approximately US$50,000 were handed out.

This year’s mission also featured screenings for congenital heart disease among high school athletes—a vital initiative in safeguarding young lives.

Dr. Clarke expressed gratitude to donors and supporters for their ongoing contributions. “Your assistance is crucial to our mission’s success,” he said.

As HelpJaMM looks toward the future, its leaders and supporters remain committed to its mission of delivering free, high-quality healthcare to the communities that need it most.
