Fresh off a recent tour of Sri Lanka, Sammy described the upcoming games as an opportunity for the West Indies to prove themselves once again against a top-tier England squad.

“Playing against England always brings out a special fire in our players and fans. The rivalry has deep roots, and every game against them has its own energy. We’re looking forward to raising our game on home soil, just as we did when we defeated them last year,” Sammy said. “With our focus on building momentum toward the ICC Men’s World Cup 2027, we’ve selected a team that can challenge England’s strengths across all aspects of the game.”

Three-match series kicks off on October 31

The three-match series kicks off on October 31 and will see two games at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua, coinciding with Antigua’s Independence celebrations. The final match will take place on November 6 at Barbados’s Kensington Oval, setting the stage for intense competition. The squad of 15 for the ODI matches includes both seasoned players and exciting new talent, with Shimron Hetmyer returning to the line-up after his last ODI appearance in December 2023.

Hetmyer replaces Alick Athanaze, marking the only change from the squad that played in Sri Lanka earlier in the month.

The series also builds anticipation for the five-match T20 series between West Indies and England, scheduled for November 9-17, with the T20 squad announcement expected soon. Cricket fans across the Caribbean are ready for a thrilling showdown as they cheer on the West Indies in their bid to take down England once more.
