Anticipation is reaching a fever pitch for the highly awaited Jamaica Athletics Invitational (JAI) track meet scheduled to commence at the National Stadium on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
The event promises a captivating showcase of athletic prowess with a stellar line-up of world-class athletes competing in 10 track and four field events under the lights.
The women’s 100m event is poised to steal the spotlight as Côte d’Ivoire’s Marie-Josée Ta Lou-Smith makes her seasonal debut at the National Stadium. Ta Lou-Smith faces formidable opposition from a strong contingent of Jamaican sprinters including Briana Williams, Tia Clayton, Tina Clayton, Kemba Nelson, and Alana Reid.

American standout Abby Steiner and French rising star Gemima Joseph complete the star-studded field.
In the men’s 100m, Jamaican sprinters Akeem Blake, Kadrian Goldson, Julian Forte, and Sanjay Davison will clash with American competitors Ronny Baker and Brandon Hickling in what promises to be a thrilling showdown.
The men’s 200m event features reigning 60m world indoor champion Christian Coleman, who aims to secure a spot on the United States’ Olympic team for the Paris Games. Coleman will go head-to-head with American teammate Fred Kerley and British athlete Zharnel Hughes in a highly anticipated race.

Meanwhile, Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith leads the field in the women’s 200m, facing tough competition from Briana Williams and Ashanti Moore.
In the men’s 400m, reigning world champion Antonio Watson of Jamaica will renew his rivalry with world silver medallist Matthew Hudson-Smith of Great Britain, setting the stage for another thrilling match-up. Former national champion Demish Gaye and Jovan Francis will also feature in the event.
On the field, attention will turn to the men’s triple jump with world Under-20 record holder Jaydon Hibbert headlining the competition. In the women’s triple jump, reigning world indoor champion Thea Lafond of Dominica will vie for top honors against Jamaican athletes Shanieka Ricketts and Richelle Stanley.
