Hibbert’s journey from holding both the indoor and outdoor NCAA records to becoming the first Jamaican and the youngest recipient of the prestigious Bowerman Award has been nothing short of remarkable. Now, he eagerly anticipates showcasing his exceptional talent at the Bermuda Grand Prix.

Expressing his excitement about the upcoming event, Hibbert stated, “Finally, I’ll be opening my season. I’m just super grateful and super happy that I am ready to compete and see where I am in terms of my training. I’ve never been to Bermuda, so this should be fun. I’ve heard it’s an electrifying stadium, and that’s one of the things that jumpers need, so I look forward to the crowd support.”

Has already left an indelible mark in the world of athletics

At just 19 years old, Hibbert has already left an indelible mark in the world of athletics. He secured the gold medal at the 2022 World Under-20 championships and holds the under-20 indoor and outdoor triple jump world records at 17.54m and 17.87m, respectively. After an undefeated freshman year at the University of Arkansas in 2023, he transitioned to the professional ranks in January, fulfilling a long-standing dream.

“Competing professionally is a dream for me. It’s what I’ve wanted since I started doing the sport. I can’t wait to get out there and make my coach and family proud. I’m praying for a great season,” Hibbert remarked, reflecting on his aspirations.

Hibbert’s impressive track record includes winning both the long jump and triple jump titles at the 2022 Carifta Games in Kingston, Jamaica. With a personal best of 17.87m for the triple jump set in May 2023, he enters the Bermuda Grand Prix with high expectations and determination to excel on the professional stage.

The Bermuda Grand Prix, also known as the “Prelude to Paris”, is scheduled to commence at 3:00 p.m. Jamaica time at the Flora Duffy Stadium, offering an exciting platform for athletes like Hibbert to showcase their talents and aspirations on an international stage.
