The race for top spots in the U-20 qualifiers intensifies as Cuba, Antigua and Barbuda, and Suriname showcase impressive performances in their respective campaigns, keeping them in contention for progression to the CONCACAF Men’s Championships.
In Group A action, Cuba secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Belize at the Estadio Nacional in Managua, with Aniel Casanova’s 12th-minute strike leveling them with host nation Nicaragua at the top of the group.
Meanwhile, the British Virgin Islands (BVI) secured their second win with a 3-1 triumph over Anguilla, courtesy of Azarni Callwood’s hat-trick.
Group B witnessed Guyana’s first victory as they edged Turks and Caicos Islands 2-1, while El Salvador claimed a decisive 3-0 win over Suriname. El Salvador’s triumph propelled them to the top of the group, setting up a crucial showdown with Antigua and Barbuda, who sit just one point behind along with Suriname.
In Group C, host nation Guatemala dominated with a 4-0 win over Aruba, securing pole position in the group. Barbados also claimed a morale-boosting 4-2 victory over St Martin, despite their failed campaign.
