FIFA and CONCACAF to discuss JFF Election situation and potential road map

The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) is facing a cloud of uncertainty regarding the scheduling of its voting congress following a recent court-issued injunction.

Beach Soccer Jamaica had sought membership for voting rights, prompting the court to grant a 28-day injunction, potentially further delaying the electoral process.

In an email communication to the JFF, FIFA has requested that any electoral process be put on hold until a comprehensive analysis can be conducted, considering the JFF statutes and regulations. The email also indicated that CONCACAF and FIFA would engage with the JFF in the coming days to discuss the situation and devise a road map aligned with FIFA statutes and principles of good governance.

Normalization committee

Former JFF general secretary, Burchell Gibson, has suggested that FIFA might consider establishing a normalization committee to oversee the electoral process in the future. This development has left the timing and execution of the JFF elections in a state of uncertainty, with potential implications for the leadership and governance of Jamaica’s football federation.

The outcome of discussions between FIFA, CONCACAF, and the JFF will likely play a pivotal role in determining the way forward for the electoral process and the stability of football administration in Jamaica.
