Cricket West Indies (CWI) has officially announced several organizational changes as the cricket governing body prepares for a significant year, marked by the launch of a new four-year strategic plan for 2024-27 and the hosting of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in June.
Johnny Grave, CEO of CWI, emphasized the organization’s commitment to continuous evolution and improvement, with a focus on maximizing human capital, attracting top talent, and fostering an environment of excellence throughout the system. Grave acknowledged the importance of the dedicated team members and their contributions.
As part of the organizational changes, the responsibilities of some team members have been realigned. While some contracts, including those of Dominic Warne (Commercial, Marketing, and Communications Director) and Philip Spooner (Media and Public Relations Manager), have reached a natural conclusion, both individuals will assume new roles to support CWI during the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
New cricket strategy
CWI will also conduct a review of the selection system as part of the new cricket strategy, building on the established policy from the 2019 selection review. Miles Bascombe, Director of Cricket at CWI, stressed the importance of refining selection processes to better serve West Indies cricket and mentioned that this review has led to immediate changes in structure and personnel.
Selectors Roland Butcher, Travis Dowlin, and Robert Haynes, whose contracts ended on December 31, 2023, will not be immediately replaced as part of the ongoing review process. The lead selectors under existing contracts will continue to serve during this period.
Chris Brabazon, the Coach Development Manager, has left CWI to pursue a new role in Australia. His contributions to coaching courses and accreditations were acknowledged.
Important developments and events
CWI reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and continuous improvement within its operations and will initiate recruitment processes for a new Commercial Director and Coach Development Manager.
This series of organizational changes comes as CWI prepares for important developments and events, including the implementation of its new strategic plan and the hosting of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
