From November 30 to December 15, 2023, a delegation comprising representatives from the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Cricket West Indies (CWI) is embarking on its second inspection tour of the confirmed host countries in the Caribbean and the host cities in the USA. This inspection aims to evaluate all aspects of the host countries and venues, including those for World Cup matches and warm-up fixtures.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will mark a historic occasion as it becomes the first ICC World Cup to be hosted in the USA. The tournament will feature a record-breaking participation of 20 teams, divided into four groups, with a total of 55 matches scheduled throughout the competition.

Fawwaz Baksh, Tournament Director for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, stated, “The primary objective of this assessment is to conduct a thorough review of each host country’s facilities and collaborate with them to ensure the best possible experience for players and the thousands of fans expected to attend the tournament. This aligns with our overarching vision of hosting the largest Cricket Carnival the world has ever witnessed and will further solidify the region’s reputation as a premier destination for hosting top-tier sporting events.”

Areas under assessment

Khushiyal Singh, Head of Operations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, elaborated on the areas under assessment, which include pitch and outfield preparations, practice facilities, players’ dressing rooms, broadcast and media facilities, IT and security capabilities, accommodations such as hotels and guest houses, fan park locations, and other essential components vital to the successful execution of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Following the completion of the inspections and assessments, the ICC will compile their findings and provide any necessary recommendations to CWI, as well as the host countries and match venues. The valuable insights gained from these visits will play a pivotal role in guiding each nation and venue towards making the necessary enhancements to ensure an exceptional experience for players, spectators, and all stakeholders throughout the duration of the tournament.

To keep abreast of all updates regarding the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup West Indies and USA 2024, including the commencement of ticket sales and the final match schedule, interested parties can subscribe to the CWI newsletter through the Cricket West Indies website and its official social media channels.
