West Indies spin maestro Sunil Narine bids farewell to international cricket

Renowned West Indies spinner Sunil Narine has officially declared his retirement from international cricket, bringing an end to a distinguished career representing the Caribbean side.

Narine’s impactful presence was felt in over 100 international matches for the West Indies, including a pivotal role in the team’s triumph at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka in 2012, where he claimed an impressive nine wickets during the tournament.

Although his last appearance for the West Indies dates back to 2019, Narine took to social media, specifically Instagram, to share his retirement announcement. In his heartfelt message, he expressed gratitude to those who provided steadfast support throughout his cricketing journey, enabling him to realize his dream of representing the West Indies on the international stage.

Sunil Narine’s international career spanned 122 matches for the West Indies, encompassing a diverse range of formats, including six Tests, 65 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and 51 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). His retirement marks the conclusion of an era for West Indies cricket, leaving a lasting legacy as one of the country’s prominent spin bowlers.
