Established in 2020 by track star Michael Frater and former athlete Gregory Little, the Titans Track Club now faces a major rift. This division has arisen from significant disagreements, especially concerning leadership roles, primarily involving Little.

Star athletes join Frater in exodus

This split has far-reaching consequences, affecting not only the co-founders but also a group of star athletes who’ve chosen to leave the club. Notable departures include Yohan Blake, the men’s 2011 World Champion in the 100 meters, Akeem Blake, who won bronze in the 4x100m relay at the 2021 Budapest World Athletics Championships, and Briana Williams. Williams secured gold as part of the women’s 4x100m sprint relay team at the 2021 Olympic Games and had previously claimed the double sprint title at the age of 16 at the 2018 World Under-20 Championships in Finland.

These athletes will continue their athletic pursuits under the technical guidance of Frater, who is anticipated to establish a new club soon.

Meanwhile, Gregory Little will continue to oversee the operations of Titans Track Club with athletes Malik James King and Darion Skerrit out of Antigua.

At present, no official statement has been issued by any of the involved parties regarding the reasons for this separation.

New talent for the camp

Frater’s camp is gearing up for the upcoming season, which notably includes preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Reports also indicate that World Championships representative and 400m hurdler, Assinie Wilson, is set to join Frater in his new venture.

Frater boasts an impressive athletic career, having secured a silver medal in the men’s 100m at the 2005 World Athletics Championships. He has also been a pivotal member of numerous successful 4x100m relay teams at both the World Athletics Championships and Olympic Games.
