Speaking at a welcome ceremony on Sunday, November 17, at Sangster International Airport (SIA) in Montego Bay, Bartlett praised the collaboration between Jamaica and The Bahamas. The new service will operate twice weekly, with flights arriving on Thursdays and Sundays.

“Thanks to Bahamasair for fostering this connectivity and to the teams from the Jamaica Tourist Board and The Bahamas for making this partnership a reality,” Bartlett said. “This collaboration strengthens the bonds within the region and moves us closer to realizing the vision of a prosperous Caribbean.”

Also present at the event, Hon. Alfred Sears, The Bahamas’ Minister of Immigration and National Insurance, emphasized the mutual benefits of the flights. Representing The Bahamas’ Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investment, and Aviation, Hon. I. Chester Cooper, Sears noted that the service deepens the cultural and economic ties between the two nations.

“The Bahamas and Jamaica share a rich cultural heritage and are committed to increasing airlift while enhancing visitor satisfaction. These flights make travel between our destinations more accessible and affordable, creating opportunities for both our nations,” Sears said.

Bahamasair Chair, Tanya Pratt, underscored the airline’s commitment to fostering strong relationships with Jamaica and advancing air transport and tourism in the region.
