ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Antigua and Barbuda has unveiled a formidable five-athlete contingent for the NACAC Senior Championships, with veteran sprinter Cejhae Greene set to spearhead the nation’s challenge when the meet takes place August 15-17 at the Grand Bahama Sports Complex in Freeport, The Bahamas.
Greene, one of the Caribbean’s most consistent performers, will contest the 100 meters—his trademark event. The 2018 CAC Games record-holder (10.00 seconds) recently shifted his training base from MVP International to MVP Jamaica in 2024, a move aimed at sharpening his edge on the global stage.
National champions in support
Greene will be joined by Dwayne Fleming, the reigning 2025 national 100m champion, who will also test his speed endurance with a second entry in the 200m. The explosive Darion Skerritt, current national 200m titleholder, adds further sprint depth to the team.
The middle-distance threat comes from Jalen Dyett, fresh off his national title in the 400m, while the field events will be anchored by Christopher Johnson, Antigua and Barbuda’s shot put national record-holder, bringing power and versatility to the line-up.
Leadership on and off the track
The squad will be guided by head coach and manager Jamille Nelson, tasked with maximizing performances across the disciplines. Off the track, ABAA president and NACAC council member Everton Cornelius will represent the nation at the NACAC Delegates Congress, ensuring Antigua and Barbuda’s voice is heard in regional athletics governance.
The team departs for The Bahamas on August 12, with preparations geared toward making a bold statement on the NACAC stage. With Greene’s proven pedigree and a supporting cast of national champions, Antigua and Barbuda will look to blend experience with emerging talent in their quest for podium finishes.
