Since the start of the pandemic, Black-owned businesses have suffered the hardest economic impacts, especially Black female-owned businesses. That’s why the Community Fund of North Miami-Dade (CFNMD), a certified Community Development Financial Institution, launched their #SheWinsWeWin campaign this month.
The campaign is designed to elevate the visibility of Black female business owners throughout South Florida.
Elizabeth Burrows, the External Affairs Director of the Opa-Locka Community Development Corporation, the parent company of CFNMD, said March being Women’s History Month was the perfect time to show appreciation for female entrepreneurs.
“To us, it felt like a great way to show our appreciation for the contributions that female entrepreneurs and women-owned businesses make to our economy and society. As a certified CDFI, we’re a mission-based lender working to provide underserved communities throughout South Florida with greater access to resources. In the last several years, we’ve focused our efforts on providing financial and technical assistance to small businesses and entrepreneurs and women are a big part of our clientele,” she said to CNW Network in a statement.
Until the end of March, the fund will be hosting digital events, infographics, workshops and more. The final event will be ‘Women in Business’, in partnership with the City of Miami Gardens, on March 30th at 5 PM.
Burrows says the campaign will also spotlight female entrepreneurs who have achieved success through the Community Fund of North Miami-Dade.
“We’re using the campaign to shine a spotlight on several of our female clients who’ve started successful businesses or have grown their enterprise with the help of the Community Fund of North Miami-Dade. Each virtual event will feature at least one of our female clients because we’re so proud of what they’ve accomplished,” Burrows said.
The campaign builds on the fund’s previously announced partnership with the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity for the Black Business Loan Program.
Burrows said the program is a great opportunity for entrepreneurs in heavily-populated Caribbean-American counties to grow their businesses. Through the program, business owners in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties. This commitment includes products, services, technology and financial support. The CFNMD has also committed to concentrated investments that will focus on providing Black-owned businesses and Black people access to affordable financial tools and capital.
The Community Fund of North Miami-Dade says they remain dedicated to delivering responsible and affordable lending to communities in need. They also want to bridge the gap between small businesses, and the capital and education they need.
