Memorial Hospital Pembroke recently marked its 30th anniversary with a summertime barbecue and a heartfelt tribute to nine longtime employees who have been with the facility since 1995, when Memorial Healthcare System took over operations from the former Pembroke Pines General Hospital.
Honored for three decades of service were Odel Grant, Indra Jagen-Jones, Patricia Lyn, Laurel Maas, Patrice Maycock, Louise McLune, Ana Marie Navarrete, Fanny Polo, and Sheela Varghese. Each received a commemorative gift bag in recognition of their commitment to the hospital and community.
Among them, Laurel Maas, a clinical manager in the Intensive Care Unit, stood out for her extraordinary tenure. Maas began working at the hospital in 1975, representing 50 of her 56 years as a nurse.
“These employees have embraced the vision, mission, and values of our healthcare system,” said Felicia Turnley, CEO of Memorial Hospital Pembroke. “They continue to be actively involved and committed to who we are as an organization and how we serve patients, families, and the local community.”
Located in the heart of Pembroke Pines, the 301-bed facility serves a diverse population, including a large Caribbean community that relies on the hospital for culturally competent and compassionate care. Memorial Hospital Pembroke offers specialized services in bariatrics, endocrinology and diabetes, emergency care, stroke treatment, surgery, and wound care.
It is part of the Memorial Healthcare System, one of the largest public healthcare systems in the United States. More information is available at www.mhs.net/locations/memorial-pembroke or by calling 954-276-5500.
