Uncovering the contraband
Reports are that on August 1, 2023, authorities at the Providenciales International Airport discovered a black magazine in Grim’s luggage.
The magazine contained 20 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
He was subsequently arrested and charged with the illegal possession.
Confession and clarity on regulations
The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) confirmed that Grim acknowledged ownership of the contraband during his interaction with detectives.
In light of the incident, Superintendent Dean Holden, who oversees Crime, Safeguarding, and Public Protection, emphasized the strictness of the islands’ regulations.
He stated that the Turks and Caicos Islands have unequivocal laws pertaining to firearm and ammunition possession.
“The laws are clearly defined as to the requirements needed in obtaining permission for possession of firearms and ammunition when traveling to the TCI. The laws apply to everyone and will be enforced,” he said.
