Despite the existing devastation in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew’s Category 4 impact on Haiti, the U.S. government has once again begun deportation flights from the US to the troubled nation after temporarily halting them after the storm.  The Miami Herald reported that last month at least 70 people were boarded on a flight and sent to Haiti from the US.

It’s the seventh year that Publix Supermarkets has sponsored the famous celebration of Caribbean culture and cuisine, Grace Jerk Fest, and to set the mood they have been cooking up some excitement in store. The instore Jerk culinary school include ‘how to’ sessions, tastings, and more. The Garce Jamaican Jerk Fest is set for this Sunday at Markham Park in Sunrise. Gates Open at 10 am.

Guyanese reggae gospel artist Saiku is creating a buzz across the Caribbean with his two new songs, ‘Pillow Could Speak’ and ‘You’. The singer, who was recently in Jamaica recording tracks for his upcoming EP with producer Danny Brownie, said the songs have been making an impact across the region without any specific marketing campaigns behind them.

In Sports:

Triple Olympic champion Usain Bolt and newly crowned Olympic double champion Elaine Thompson are among the three finalists for the International Association of Athletics Federations male and female Athlete of the Year awards. Bolt is up against Great Britain’s double gold medalist Mo Farah and South Africa’s Wayde van Niekerk.

The hashtag ‘Not My President’ erupted all over twitter less than 24 hours after Donald Trump was named President Elect. Demonstrators took to the streets in California and New York among other states to protest the election results holding signs and homemade banners.
