On December 3, Caribbean Airlines launched direct flights to Martinique, marking a significant milestone in the airline’s mission to strengthen and connect the Caribbean region.
Flights between Trinidad and Tobago and the French Caribbean island will operate four times a week—on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Two of these flights will be nonstop, while the other two will include a stopover in Barbados, offering travelers increased connectivity options within the Caribbean.
This long-awaited service aims to fill a gap in regional travel that has existed for years, fostering greater collaboration, cultural exchange, and economic growth across the Caribbean. The new route connects passengers from French, Spanish, Dutch, and English-speaking Caribbean countries, offering them a seamless way to explore the region.
Garvin Medera, CEO of Caribbean Airlines, expressed excitement about the new service:
“We are thrilled to welcome Martinique to our expanding network and to say ‘welcome home’ as we reconnect the Caribbean to Martinique. Our entry into the French Caribbean is pivotal to achieving our vision of connecting the region seamlessly and sustainably. Caribbean Airlines will be the nexus for tourism, culture, and trade, fostering greater collaboration and unity among the Caribbean islands. These flights are more than just a route; they are a bridge and will add close to 300 seats per week to each market. We look forward to the positive ripple effects they will create, allowing our people to experience the incredible diversity of cultures across our islands.”
Nathalie Sebastien, CEO of Martinique Airport, welcomed Caribbean Airlines with enthusiasm, saying:
“Welcome home, Caribbean Airlines … as we say here in Martinique – Nou kontan wé zot … I am delighted in more ways than one by this long-awaited achievement. With you, Caribbean Airlines, we are finally restoring greater connectivity, culturally, for sporting events, family, and more with our Caribbean brothers and sisters. You are truly in our DNA … We are part of the Caribbean … Welcome Home!”
The new flights offer passengers the opportunity to explore Martinique’s renowned Creole culture, stunning landscapes, and warm hospitality. At the same time, the service provides Martinique with an accessible gateway to Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, and other Caribbean destinations, strengthening regional relationships and enriching travel experiences.
This new route also aligns with Caribbean Airlines’ commitment to sustainable regional connectivity. By bridging gaps in the travel network, the airline is facilitating cultural exchanges, promoting tourism, and enhancing trade, all while supporting the broader sustainability goals for the Caribbean.
